you are what you eat

I was thinking about the saying of Hippocrates, “You are what you eat” and this is a truism. We are intricately and intimately connected through the chemicals of the foods from Nature, the water and minerals of Earth and the air from the Universe. It is when we pollute Nature and Earth with pesticides, chemicals to force growth (nature on steroids), genetically engineering nature, dump toxic chemicals into our ground-water supply and empty toxic chemicals into the air that we pollute our chemical design and open ourselves up for inflammation and disease. When we eat from nature, we have to question what the soil has been fed. We are not separate from our “home on Earth” any more than we are separate from our “body as our home.” We are truly what we eat. When we are chemically out of balance we can be in a state of inflammation and it is challenging to loose weight when the cells are inflamed.

I flipped this truism of Hippocrates around a bit to “eat what you are” as I think of our atomic signature being carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, mineral and essential fatty acids and various combinations of all of these. This is our connection to Earth, Nature and the Universe for All is chemical. We are a chemical consciousness which is clearly explained in the book, The Journey Home. Our Evolving Consciousness by Kathy Oddenino. In reading the chapter on Our Chemical Consciousness, p 27 this sentence jumped out at me. “The secret to our happiness and health is understanding that we are a chemical consciousness, and understanding that we were created with a very precise pattern that allows us to continually support our mind and emotions as a chemical consciousness and the cellular structure of our physical body as a chemical consciousness.”
